Flexible Child Care Program

For Extended Hours and Weekend Care

A "home away from home" provides working parents peace of mind at any time of the day.

Our Flexible Child Care program was designed specifically for parents who need a stable and nurturing environment for their child when they take on non-traditional work hours. We aim to provide children with a "home away from home" while offering a flexible fee structure and extended hours for working parents.

A first of its kind in Ottawa, our program is the only extended-hours child care service in the area with a parent-friendly policy where you pay only for the days you need care.

Our Flexible Child Care Program

Our Flexible Child Care program welcomes children aged 1-12. Children join a "family unit" rather than an age-defined group, keeping siblings together as they would be at home. Flexible Child Care groups enjoy their dedicated area in our newly renovated centre.

This space looks just like a home, with an open concept living room, dining room and kitchen, two bathrooms; one with a tub and one with a changing table, and a separate private stand-up shower and toilet.

The bedrooms have multiple bunk beds, single beds, cribs and trundles for the siblings that want to snuggle together. When you walk into this open concept space, it feels like a family lives here. And as far as we are concerned, families DO live here!

The activity you'll see at any time of the day looks like normal family life.

In the afternoon, you might find some children happily crafting while others are napping, some playing outdoors while others are discovering a new book indoors. At bedtime, there is a calm, restful atmosphere where everyone's home sleep schedule is followed very closely.

Just like at home, a lot is going on —and always under the watchful eye of a registered educator.

Your Child's Safety is Our #1 Priority

  • All staff are carefully screened and must provide a negative Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector, proof of up-to-date immunizations, and standard first aid and CPR Certificate.
  • A Canadian Certified Playground Inspector regularly inspects outdoor playgrounds.
  • Our Registered Child Care Educators to child ratio exceed government standards.

How Learning Happens

Like the program's name, our curriculum is flexible and accommodating for each unique child because we understand that every child develops at their own pace. However, one constant teaching method throughout all levels is play-based learning.

We take great care to tailor our activities appropriately for each child's developmental stage. Whether they're learning about shapes or colours in art time or tackling the outdoor climbers for the first time, our educators are there every step of the way to help every child embrace a learning opportunity.

We understand the importance of providing your child with a warm and loving home away from home. Our program is staffed by caring and dedicated professionals academically trained in child care. The curriculum is carefully designed by Registered Childhood Educators using the "How Does Learning Happen" (HDLH) and "Early Learning For Every Child Today" (ELECT) frameworks.

A Typical Day

Depending on the child's age, our schedule is designed to remain flexible and may change daily. Your child will be busy all day with fun activities and playtime indoors and outdoors.

They'll get rest when they need it and enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared by our in-house Chef. All meals and snacks follow Canada's Food Guide and are all "Nut Free."

Parents may send food from home for children with specific dietary requirements.

One thing is always a constant —your child will be surrounded by love, support and spontaneous learning moments.
